After the deaths of three Israeli and one Palestinian teenagers and the return of rockets from both sides of the separation wall, the situation in Israel/Palestine is once again in the news. BDS Debate: Leftist author and academic Noam Chomsky surprised many in the Palestinian justice movement by criticizing some elements of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign. One crucial point he made was the significance of the United States in propping up Israel’s occupation of Palestine. This is especially important in light of the recent Israeli police assault on 15-year old American teenager Tariq Abu Khdeir during his trip to East Jerusalem, which appeared to shift the conversation in U.S. media to be more critical of Israel. Below is a link to Chomsky’s article and a reply by Tom Suarez.

Note: This is a surprisingly good documentary on Israeli/Palestinian food and the prospects for a just peace in Israel/Palestine from the celebrity food tourist. Apparently this was first aired last September, though a version of the video aired last night on CNN.
